The most significant find in the development of this design was a breathtaking Japanese antique screen with a striking wisteria motif. Working within client preference for Asian inspired furniture and clean lines, the lightness of the palette was appropriately broken with dramatic black lacquered accents in furniture and accessories. A luminous sheer fabric makes up the airy draperies and emphasizes the ethereal atmosphere within the room. The result is a truly contemporary space, grounded in cultures and artifacts of the past and decidedly transitional in feel.
